Multimedia artist Shantell Martin teamed up with one of the greatest magazines and a platform for creative minds, Playboy, for an NFT Collection for Nifty Pride. It drops on June 29th on Nifty Gateway.
Titled ‘Bowie 1976’, the collection features three distinct, interconnected NFTs, inspired by the September 1976 Playboy Interview featuring David Bowie. ‘Bowie 1976’ revolves around three classic themes that speak deeply to the Bowie ethos: Sex, Drugs, and Rock ‘n’ Roll. NFTs within the collection are also titled this way.
To create the NFTs, Playboy pulled up its archives and unearthed the times between a then-29-year-old Bowie and music journalist turned director Cameron Crowe.
The energy of that conversation in 1976 inspired Shantell Martin to thoughtfully reimagine the interview, pass it through a contemporary lens, and create a brand-new interpretation of it.
As a result, there is a digital marriage of text, imagery, and her signature hand-drawn line work.
Each NFT within the collection is an Edition of 1 that will be auctioned off.
