This year, more than 1 million hectares of plant reserves were lost due to a strong heat wave that caused the conditions for fires to occur in almost 10% of the surface of the Province of Corrientes. The fire advanced over grasslands, mountains, plantations, estuaries that are part of nature reserves, including the Esteros del Iberá National Park.
The reasons for the fires include both a natural disaster caused by high temperatures, water stress and lack of humidity in the environment, as well as the irresponsible actions of man, either by starting intentional or negligent fires.
