Meemz is a mix-and-match NFT collectable series inspired by memes and meme animals from the last 10-15 years. The project was created by 3D artists Nicole Ruggiero and planttdaddii. Meemz will be launched on the Voice blockchain, which is a private version of EOS. Later this year the Voice chain is expected to expand to trade on Polygon and Solana. Meemz may be purchased with USD or USDC. Prices start at $40. The first release of Meemz will be on March 22nd starting with doge! The proejct was conceptualized in Summer 2020 and released in Winter 2021. The artists decided to concentrate on both memes and animals because it felt like a true 50/50 collaboration; Nicole makes work about digital culture and Sam uses animals to explore emotion and mental health. Nicole took a lot of inspiration from collectables like Pokémon cards when coming up with the concept of combinations. Sam and Nicole both designed the characters together, while Sam sculpted the majority of them (with some help from their friend Harley). The color palette was decided by Nicole before the sculpting process began, which helped aid in the direction of the overall style. The animals were chosen based on popularity and personal stylistic relatability. The most exciting part of the project to them is the gamification of the project which utilizes the act of both combining already existing NFTs, and racing to claim and reveal the new combination.
