German sportswear manufacturer Puma is taking non-fungibility deeper into the world of fashionable sneakers. The apparel company has forged a partnership with 21-year-old NBA player LaMelo Ball and the NFT project Gutter Cat Gang to unveil the GutterMelo MB.03 collection.
The collection features a limited edition of digital sneakers. Its design is rich in colorful effects that look like a heat map. It also features the pictorial illustration of Gutter Cat Gang’s NFT. The sneaker also has the inscription, “1-of-1,” which is one of the tattoos engraved on Ball’s arm. On the heel of the sneakers lies the names of all three collaborators.
Each digital piece will be redeemable for $175 on June 29th via the OpenSea marketplace. Following the public sale, holders of the NFTs can redeem the digital footwear for the physical version from July 18th through August 20th.
LaMelo Ball signed a $100 million partnership deal with Puma as far back as 2020. The collaboration has seen the unveiling of two editions of digital sneakers, with MB.03 sneakers being the third edition. More iterations are expected to be released later this year.
