The Graphic Trolls are excerpts taken and reworked from my "Fremont Troll" original painting, completed in 2015.
The Fremont Troll is a public sculpture in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, Washington located under the north end of the George Washington Memorial Bridge (Aurora Bridge). Composed of steel rebar, wire and concrete, the Fremont Troll weighs 13,000 lbs and stretches 18 ft high into the air. Wondering if the VW Bug he is clutching with his right hand is real? It is! Outfitted with CA plates, naturally.
If he looks familiar, that’s because the Fremont Troll was featured in the 1999 romantic comedy cult classic, "10 Things I Hate About You", with Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Julia Stiles.
The Fremont Troll has since remained a tourist and local attraction as well as a hang out spot for years, prompting adventurous guests to climb on the sculpture and explore it’s enormity. To this day, professional and amateur photographers alike flock to its location to capture it’s 90’s grunge essence.
