Fashion giant Adidas has deepened its presence in the non-fungible ecosystem through its latest partnership. Xociety, a shooter game, recently disclosed a collaboration with Adidas to unveil a new lineup of 2,600 exclusive NFTs for game-loving audiences. The duo chose the layer-1 Sui blockchain network to host the NFT collection upon debut from May 16th at 9 AM ET.
Xociety is a third-person shooter game developed by a team called NDUS Interactive. This game marries player versus player (PvP), player versus environment (PvE), and role-playing game (RPG) mechanics to boast a dynamic gameplay experience. The gaming platform adopts a “No Free Lunch” policy, implying that players must pay for in-game services. At the center of the game’s services is XOCIETY Corporate Shares (XCS), its governance token allowing users to decide on matters involving tournament models, wearables, and more. Holders are also entitled to benefits like priority access to token airdrops and early access to rare items.
Xociety launched on the Sui blockchain in 2024. Since then, the gaming project has touted itself as the leading Web3 game on the layer-1 network.
While announcing the new collaboration with the fashion company, the Xociety team mentioned it would unveil ALTS by Adidas content. Adidas launched its Ethereum-based NFT project in April 2023 as a way for holders to showcase their alternative selves. The NFT collection also allowed each token holder to own one of eight traits called ALT[er] Egos.
Xociety explained that the digital collectibles will be sold as mystery boxes containing a specific number of clothing sets. These will include virtual skins and wearables featuring the Adidas logo. Xociety’s XCS system will also “play a key role” in the latest initiative. Tradeport, an NFT marketplace on Sui, will be tapped for the minting process on the said date.
Unlike rivals like Nike, which are backing out of the NFT sector, Adidas believes in the non-fungible realm. Its latest partnership with Xociety is a bold nod to its continued sojourn into this vast realm.
