Imagine staring at a picture that doesn't even exist! sounds stupid but the paintings you staring at right now don't even exist. they have been self-generated through Artificial Intelligence or AI. Or we can say that these paintings have been made by Artificial Intelligence.
These paintings are generated using a GAN (Generative Adversarial Network), where two neural networks compete with each other in a game. One NN creates fake art and the other NN acts as a critic and tries to figure out which images are real and which aren't. Through this process, the art-creating NN gets better and better over time at producing fakes.
