Charity DAO has launched a new NFT collection in support of Earthquake Preparedness and Response. Earthquakes can occur at any time. Suburban areas that are most populated are more affected, especially when buildings are erected on foundations of reclaimed land such as landfills and old waterways. This NFT collection depicts a modern skyline where the environment is polluted; a sky full of smog with polluted waterways that mask the dangers of an earthquake lurking below.
Earthquakes can strike suddenly and without warning. Between 1998-2017, earthquakes caused nearly 750 000 deaths globally, more than half of all deaths can be attributed to natural disasters. More than 125 million people were affected by earthquakes during this period, they were either injured, made homeless, displaced or evacuated during the emergency phase of the disaster. Earthquakes do not discriminate, they damage healthcare facilities, schools, houses, destroy roads, and disrupt uncountable logistic services.
Recently, earthquakes struck the Philippines and California, directly impacting nearly thousands of people who were displaced from thousands of homes. What can we do?
