Steven Ellison, popularly known as Flying Lotus, is an American record producer, rapper, and DJ born in 1983. He went to Los Angeles Film High school and later joined Academic of Art University. His music career started when working as an intern at Stones Throw Records and saw an advertisement on TV asking for song submissions. He submitted an entry under the name Flying Lotus and was accepted. In 2006, Steven participated in the Red Bull Music Academy talent showcase organised in Melbourne, Australia. He then signed with Warp Records, where he released his debut EP, the six-track Reset. Flying Lotus released a 17-track album, Los Angeles, dedicated to his home city.
His most outstanding achievements include winning the 10th Annual Independent Music Awards in 2011, collaborating with top musicians, and launching a radio station. The NFT space received Flying Lotus after he teamed up with his friend David O’Reilly to release their first NFT collaboration, “Kali Yuga,” on Nifty Gateway. During Spring of 2021, Flying Lotus dropped a solo collection titled “Fragments Of A Universe.”
