The most renowned and skillful skateboard guru of all times, Tony Hawk, is bringing his rich legacy to the metaverse. Thus, in partnership with the leading metaverse platform The Sandbox, and the NFT solution source Autograph, Tony Hawk is about to create the largest skatepark in the Metaverse.
The pro-skater's entertainment zone will be set on 6x6 land in The Sandbox, bringing skateboarding and graffiti together in one universe. Moreover, the metaverse skatepark will be launched alongside the exclusive NFT collection powered by Autograph. The non-fungible tokens, inspired by Tony Hawk's tremendous career, will feature the most iconic skateboards, merch, equipment, and experiences. The collection will also include the legendary Hawk's skateboard that he used to land the 900 at the X Games in 1999.
The blue-chip 3D NFTs will be fully playable and act as a pass to The Sandbox skatepark. Thus, the metaverse platform will morph Tony Hawk's x Autograph NFTs into voxelized in-game avatars that bear great functionality and utilities for their owners. Moreover, according to The Sandbox, gamers will be also able to import their skatepark components into The Sandbox game maker. This will allow them to create their very own skateboard-themed experiences and share them with the community.
“I have been a fan of new technology all of my life – from the first videogames and home computers with CGI capabilities – so I am fascinated by the metaverse, and excited to bring our culture into the landscape,” Tony Hawk commented on the upcoming launch.
This is not the first collaboration between the pro-skater and Autograph. Returning to April 2022, the inaugural member of the Skateboarding Hall of Fame released an NFT collection, allowing minters to grab a physical skate deck signed by the legend himself.
