RCRDSHP, a dance music NFT platform, scores a multi-million dollar seed with the help of $69m Beeple digital art piece buyers

The NFT marketplace has soared to great heights in 2021, bringing information of another multi-million greenback investment spherical for a digital collectibles platform. RCRDSHP, an NFT digital music platform, has closed its first funding spherical, which is reported to be a seed round worth millions of dollars.

So far, the platform has raised over $5m in seed funding. Last month, MakersPlace, a San Francisco-based NFT platform, managed to raise $30 million in a Series A spherical. This was led by Bessemer Venture Partners and Pantera Capital.

Back in May, $63 million was raised in a seed round by OneOf, which is an NFT platform. This amount came from various music and tech industry veterans.

NFT collectors, Metakovan and Twobadour, and Dapper Labs are the ones that supported RCRDSHP’s seed round.

Metakovan and Twobadour are the ones who purchased the highest-priced digital art piece in history, which was created by Beeple and auctioned at Christies. This was way back in March, and it cost $69 million.

A media statement released said that every limited-version RCRDSHP collectible that is built on Flow blockchain contained a completely unique aspect of a label, an artist, or festival’s musical worlds”.
The platform was started in mid-August. This was with a drop of 5555 “genesis packs” consisting of electronic and dance music digital collectibles. According to RCRDSHP, the release sold out in hours and the within minutes the following weeks.

Commenting on the project and NFTs as a whole, Metakovan said that the vast majority of artists and creatives still haven't received the waves of attention and money that are flowing onto NFTs. He went on to say that using a platform such as RCRDSHP is a great advantage. This is because it promises to shift the balance, thereby allowing more creators to benefit from digital collectibles. 

Roham Gharegozlou, the CEO of Dapper Labs, said that the platform is there to take NFTs to creators  and a broader audience. They achieve this by creating a platform that tunes in to what matters to music communities.
