Gaming platform Pixelverse has integrated the IP of the popular Ethereum-based NFT project Pudgy Penguins into its ecosystem. This integration will bring the beloved penguin into Pixelverse’s Telegram-based mini-game, PixelTap, allowing players to engage in combat games with this adorable character in the fighting arena.
Pixelverse’s PixelTap is a tap-to-earn game built on the social app Telegram. Harnessing The Open Network (TON), a layer-1 blockchain affiliated with Telegram, the game boasts over 50 million registered users and more than 10 million daily gamers. The game has onboarded some prominent crypto figures into its fighting arena. These include Doge from the Ethereum-based memecoin Dogecoin and Mew from the Solana-based memecoin Cat in a Dog’s World.
Pudgy Penguins will be the latest character to join the list of gaming characters. Dubbed “Pudgy” in the game, players can hone the character’s freezing ability to gain an advantage over opponents. Interestingly, gamers do not have to own a Pudgy NFT before using the character to play.
Pudgy Penguins has recorded more crossovers than most NFT projects, some of which include an established presence in retail stores like Walmart and Target. The cute penguin will also be entering the Web3 gaming verse through the upcoming Pudgy World. The penguin-themed IP has also been featured in popular places like Fox News media.
These collabs have elevated Pudgy Penguins’ market cap to 94,213 ETH, ranking as the second-largest Ethereum-based NFT project after CryptoPunks. Its floor price sat at 10.6 ETH at the time of writing, according to data on NFTPriceFloor.
Joining the PixelTap marquee underscores Pudgy Penguins’ goal of reaching more audiences. Interestingly, it also represents an expansion from its primary audience in the Ethereum ecosystem to TON blockchain. Time will tell if the adorable penguin will enter more blockchain networks to grow its non-fungible IP.
