It is a call for society to reduce inequalities between nations and classes, which is also a sign of human progress.
Inequalities remain persistently stark in the world today. In developing countries, income inequality rose by 11 per cent between 1990 and 2010. Reducing inequalities and ensuring no one is left behind is integral to achieving the UN Global Goals. Inequality within and among countries can be reduced through advocacy for inclusion and equality in all spheres, using laws, policies and public programmes.
