A human/AI collaborative collection of numeric values, expressed visually through chromatic code.
Series N:1 offers a visual expression of numbers through a system of expanding color fields and indicators, all structured by a chromatic code. Drawing inspiration from the minimalist yet impactful use of color by artists like Josef Albers, Mark Rothko, and James Turrell, this series invites deeper contemplation regarding the potential connections with numbers and color. Each digit is represented by a distinct color field that expands with each additional digit. The specific hues are determined by the digit's proportional movement around the HSB/HSL color wheel. Transparency is added to the fields to facilitate blending, introduce greater variation, and distinguish between digits. Numbers featuring one of ten numeric traits(such as prime, palindrome, perfect square, triangular, Fibonacci, etc.) are identified with visual indicators at the core of each image.
The concept and design of Series N was entirely human-generated. AI significantly aided in the process, however, by generating code for automating the logical combination of layers during file creation and managing the activation of indicators based on the numeric traits. The culmination of this project is a nuanced human/AI collaboration, presenting a refined interpretation of numerical values through the lens of chromatic code.
