Hanta Homies are tiny pixel rodents born from the kind of outbreak story that starts with dust, old cabins, field mice, and somebody saying, "don't touch that."
The lore is inspired by real hantavirus reports and the rodents behind them. CDC notes that hantaviruses spread mainly through rodents, especially contact with urine, droppings, and saliva. U.S. surveillance goes back to the 1993 Four Corners outbreak, and CDC's updated case page reports 890 U.S. cases through 2023, with most reported cases west of the Mississippi.
This collection turns that uneasy real-world backdrop into a weird little retro RPG tribe. No gore. No hospital horror. Just cursed wetlands, glowing relics, swamp lanterns, frost charms, rice-rat energy, and small creatures that look cute until you remember they live where the warning signs are.
