On May 22nd, renowned contemporary artist and sculptor Daniel Arsham drops an exclusive NFT Collection on Nifty Gateway.
Daniel has been working on this drop since 2019, and he is ready to present his artworks on May 22nd. In 2019, Daniel reached out to Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss who are the founders of the Nifty Gateway marketplace to discuss the potential for a visual artist. The result is that Daniel Arsham is the first contemporary artist to create temporal pieces.
Titled “Eroding and Reforming Bust of Rome (One Year)”, the NFT Collection will feature 10 NFTs (“digital sculptures”) that will slowly evolve and erode over the year. Another important thing is that the pieces are linked to the seasons. It means that the setting (for some pieces this is the courtyard) will change with the seasons. Each year the sculpture will come back to its original state, and the cycle will begin again.
“When it is released on Saturday, the flowers will be blooming and birds will be heard in the garden. By Autumn the trees will have changed to brilliant fall colors and you might find some leaves have been blown inside onto the Tatami floors” – writes Daniel.
Daniel has collaborated with artist Six N. Five “to create such an important and special piece in his career and ours” as Six N. Five states.
