The luxury auction house Christie's has recently come up with its own NFT marketplace. The fully on-chain NFT platform dubbed Christie's 3.0 was launched on September 27th to conduct high-end NFT operations from A to Z. To kick off the new initiative, the auction house partnered with an 18-year-old artist Diana Sinclair, a rising star of web3 art.
Although young, the artist already boasts significant endeavors throughout her career. Thus, in November 2021, Sinclair worked with Whitney Houston’s estate to create an NFT featuring the never-before-released Houston's video, which went under the hammer for a whopping 1$ million. Moreover, according to Fortune, the artist was named one of its 50 most influential figures in the NFT space.
That's no surprise, why Christie's chose Diana Sinclair to be the pioneering artist on their brand-new web3 platform. Her awe-inspiring nine-piece collection dubbed Phases is currently on sale and will be running until October 11th. In addition to Christie’s 3.0 the Phases series can be viewed via the accompanying Spatial metaverse gallery.
The nine-part series consists of four experimental video artworks titled Ego, Doomsday, I want to Nurture the Earth, and River Over Stone, which are being auctioned off with a minimum bid of 5 ETH. Besides, there are five photographs named I Am That I Am, I want to Nurture the Earth (Still), Ego (Still), Doomsday (Still), and River Over Stone (Still) with a starting price of 4 ETH, which are also printed on 10-foot semi-transparent scrims. The whole series is highly focused on impermanence.
"The artwork titled “River Over Stone” is a representation of the way in which our memories degrade over time. By running the original artwork through OpenAI’s DALL-E, I created 51 new versions of the image. Weekly, the artwork will update on the blockchain displaying the next step in the series, and over time you see how this first moment captured completely changes visually, in tone, and in meaning. It’s a visual to how truth in life is just perception," commented Diana on one of her artworks.
