It was a cold winter day, and the snow outside was almost too beautiful to be real. That wasn't to say that the harshness of the season didn't touch any part of Laurie's life - it did, in ways she couldn't quite explain. But there were moments, like this one when the stark blue of the sky and white flakes carpeting the ground created a picture so stunningly peaceful that it almost made up for all of the other negativity.
