Today our senses are assaulted nearly every waking hour. We wake up to jarring alarms, scroll past atrocities on our phones, fight through traffic or each other, look away from the homeless, watch trees disappear for another development. Violence has become inseparable from daily life.
The world is violent enough is a small escape from all of it. A brief pause in the chaos of living. Small moments of serenity and quiet scenes that still exist alongside everything else.
While violence forces itself into our LINE of sight, peace rarely does. It exists quietly. Wind across a pond. Distant thunder above empty streets. Amber streetlights through trees.
Many of these scenes carry a strange familiarity, like walking through neighborhoods late at night as a teenager. Memories that stay suspended somewhere in the background for years.
The world is still full of peaceful moments. You just have to slow down long enough to see them.
