Tennis lovers, get ready to own a piece of history and share in some timeless moments! The world-famous tennis championship, Wimbledon and legendary tennis player Andy Murray have teamed up with renowned digital artist Refik Anadol to release an open-edition NFT that explores the union between fine art, high-performance sport, and data science.
This innovative piece, dubbed 'The Exposition,' pays homage to 18 years of Andy Murray's Wimbledon career data, including his two Grand Slam victories at the Championships in 2013 and 2016 as well as captivating motion-capture sessions.
A group of scientists and developers created a unique algorithm to create this data-inspired digital art, using millions of inputs from statistics, motion, audio and visual data, reimagining human understanding of high-performance sports data in a visual way. The bursts of colour in this piece of art stand for the drama, the rivalries, and the Championship victories. The project was curated and produced by Web3 consultancy FAN3, which provides an accessible entry point to the collaboration.
The Exposition will be available for sale from July 7th to July 16th, coinciding with Murray’s second-round match at Wimbledon 2023. Each piece is priced at $147. At the moment of writing 196 editions have been already minted.
Holders of this piece will later have the exclusive opportunity to buy a physical print edition of the artwork, produced by Avant Arte.
