A fragile world.
The Goldfish bowl symbolises a fragile environment in which a thin, brittle skin of glass contains the ecosystem that gives life to its inhabitants. Yet this goldfish bowl is a surreal one in which the Goldfish swim in a circle on the outside of the bowl. They’re free to go anywhere but can’t break the pattern of behaviour that limits them: can they change, are they willing to change?
The goldfish bowl is a metaphor for the fragile earth and those that live within its ecosystem. One of those inhabitants, homo sapiens, has a big impact on the ecosystem. The time has come to change their behaviour but are they capable of doing it before it’s too late?
Daniel Loveday, surreal artist, has been painting and selling surreal goldfish bowls across the world for some years. This is an NFT collection in which the symbolism of his paintings has been turned into animated NFTs.
