Hai-Hsin Huang
Hai-Hsin Huang, born in 1983, is a native of Taipei, Taiwan. Following her graduation from the National Taipei University of Education and The School of Visual Arts New York , she has been living and working in both Taipei and New York. In her work, which most often focuses on the circumstances of daily life, her unique perspective and simple brushwork remind one of the child in the fable who shouted that the king is not wearing new clothes, a direct attack on our absurd inability to speak the plain truth.

Artist Statement
2021 mid May in Taiwan, people self-locked down at home due to a sudden Covid crisis. I was painting and drawing as usual while people started to share ideas of how to pass time at home. I also started to doodle neighbors’ daily life on calendar sheets that I’ve observed from my apartment window.Then I started to explore the boundaries of what people would eventually do stuck at home, either discovering new unknown passions or finding elaborate ways to cheat boredom.I drew everyday for hundreds of pages without knowing how much longer this lifestyle will go on, as it quite quickly felt like forever.

Derived from the word “soil,” SOYL lays fertile ground for NFT art, music, fashion, and crossover collaborations to grow and flourish.The Chinese name “所有” (pronounced suǒyǒu, meaning “all”) encapsulates our goal to build a platform for inventive forms of artist expression and collection, all the while promoting a new concept of “ownership” enabled by NFT’s remarkable characteristics. In the metaverse era, SOYL welcomes “all” to showcase and discover.
