Feral File is pleased to announce artist Rick Silva’s Bloomcore, a digital exhibition that explores the intricacies and intelligence of vegetation.
Living plants and flowers are 3D-scanned, pruned and digitized into an eternal hyper-flora that rotates and slices through a fog of atmospheric lights. Eerie forms hover at the edges of representation and abstraction, digital and organic, familiar and alien. They have been altered, but are still real plants, grafted during Silva’s explorations of Pacific Northwest, university greenhouses, coastal redwoods, the high desert, and the Cascade mountains. They maintain their aura of furtive awareness, and a somewhat sinister dark agency.
