Vitruvius Pollio lived in Rome in the 1st century BC. Vitruvius argued in his book “De Architectura” that “Utilitas, Firmitas, Venustas” (usefulness, solidity, beauty) factors are necessary for successful architecture. In the same book, he talked about ideal proportions for beauty.
Da Vinci, who sketched the Vitruvius Pollio based on the same proportions, wrote the equivalence of the parts of the human body with each other.
