Within imagined castles of kingdoms that never came to pass, what parades might wind through their ancient streets? What forgotten empires would the people celebrate, with ringing instruments and strange banners unfurled? In "Parades of Forgotten Futures," Chae Tongyull draws on his past explorations of urban cityscapes to merge mythical architecture with traces of modern metropolises. Inspired by the histories of Byzantium, Northern Africa, and beyond, these new works are created with original artwork and brought to life by Orangehare’s in-house production team, allowing these fantastical festivals to come alive. Each piece in Parades of Forgotten Futures is named after a celebration that exists only in the mind of the artist, inviting viewers to lose themselves in the grandeur of places that never were.
