Although being a monk is regarded as a prestigious position among the monkua, not all monks are happy with their fate. Tired of long, strenuous workdays, the lazy monks formed a silent rebellion against their fellow monks. The lazy monks preferred to smoke, enjoy the beauty of nature and gaze at the surrounding mountain peaks.
Together, the monks agreed to leave the monasteries to enjoy their lives to the fullest.
The lazy monk movement led to an exodus of monks from Himalayan monasteries.
Today, lazy monks can be found across the globe.
