Julian Lennon, the eldest son of John Lennon, is selling some of the rock'n'roll iconic band The Beatles' and his father's personal items from his private collection as NFTs. The tokens are being exclusively auctioned off via the YellowHeart NFT marketplace, as well as on Julien’s Auctions online platform.

The real-time bidding started on January 24 and will be on till February 7 with the final auction to cap the exclusive event.

Items being auctioned include a black cape worn by John Lennon in the film Help!, handwritten notes for The Beatles song Hey Jude by Paul McCartney, the Afghan coat worn by John Lennon in the made-for-television film the Magical Mystery Tour, and three Gibson Les Paul guitars presented to Julian by his father.

Each non-fungible token is accompanied by Julian Lennon's narration and is performed in the form of an audio-visual collectible. The hand-written notes for Hey Jude are expected to become the most precious lot, which is currently estimated at $50 - $70k but can easily surpass these expectations in no time. After the auction is over, Julian Lennon will continue to own only the physical counterparts of all items placed for bidding.

“I’ve been collecting these personal items for about 30 years, and I was getting a bit fed up with them being locked away in a vault, where I’ve had to keep them because I didn’t want them to get damaged,” Julian Lennon tells Variety.

I actually felt very bad about keeping all that stuff locked away, and I just felt that this was a unique way to continue dad’s legacy and to show people the collections I have, and with the videos and narration, to give people a little more than they would normally get and hear some stories that they haven’t heard before in a new art form and a different medium,” he continues. “This is a slow rollout over the next year or so of quite a few items. I have a lot of projects happening this year, including a new album, and these [items] tie into a few of them. I can’t really say much more — you’ll understand why when it happens. The first release will be April 8 and that will inform you of the campaign going forward.”

Part of all the money raised will go to Julian Lennon's White Feather Foundation. Don't miss your chance to own a piece of the legend!
