While renowned global media gradually enter the NFT scene, keeping up with the trend, the industry leader National Geographic is dropping its first genesis NFT collection named GM: Daybreak Around the World. The debut series, featuring the masterpieces of 16 National Geographic photographers and digital artists from around the globe, will be released to celebrate the publication's 135th anniversary.
The creation of GM: Daybreak Around the World became possible thanks to National Geographic's partnership with the cutting-edge web3 studio Snowcrash. Moreover, the collection would never see the world without the creative spark of Nat Geo's both acclaimed and new to web3 photographers and artists, including Justin Aversano, Jimmy Chin, Delphine Diallo, Yagazie Emezi, Mia Forrest, Kris Graves, Aaron Huey, Ioulex, John Knopf, Cristina Mittermeier, Renan Ozturk, Cath Simard, Ben Strauss, Tara Workman, Reuben Wu, and Michael Yamashita.
The collection, composed of 1,888 unmatched NFT artworks, features stunning photographs of the daybreak in different locations, starting from the shores of Byron Bay, Australia, and coastal Oregon to the peaks of Mount Everest. The number of tokens is a nod to the distant year of the National Geographic publication's foundation.
Thus, each of the 16 creators will release 118 editions of their NFT photographs, which will drop in a blind format via the Snowcrash NFT marketplace, starting from January 17th, 2023. Each stunning NFT work tells a unique story captured by the photographer. The collection includes both traditional documentary images and spectacular narratives, disclosing the theme to the fullest.
While the drop will be fueled by the eco-friendly Polygon blockchain, the buyers will also be able to mint NFTs, using their bank cards along with crypto wallets. This important step makes GM: Daybreak Around the World accessible to everyone, popularizing web3 among non-blockchain audiences.
Furthermore, National Geographic aims to keep popularizing photography NFTs by releasing projects that breathe fresh inspiration and speak on urgent topics.
More specific details will be announced closer to the drop date. Mark your calendars for January 17th, and join the most anticipated photography NFT drop by National Geographic to add a daybreak NFT picture to your collections, celebrating the dawn of the new year.
