This work is a reinterpretation of 16th and 17th-century Japanese barrier paintings as generative art inspired by them.
Barrier paintings are decorative paintings on the walls, sliding doors and screens of temples and private residences, and played a role in the decoration of traditional Japanese interiors.
Incorporating themes of seasonality, sacredness, and longevity, they were used to entertain guests, demonstrate the owner's taste and cultural sophistication, and serve as a catalyst for dialogue.
