When you start a new roll of film, the first frame is exposed to ambient light during the camera-loading process. This leads to the film being "burned" leaving blank space as part of the final image. Photographers Nevin Johnson and Alex Kittoe have compiled hundreds of these photos from rolls of film over the years so that, in collaboration with Tormius, these characteristic burn marks could be transformed into a dual-media piece that blends photography and digital painting.
