FIFA is bringing football fans closer to their favourite players and teams through its latest NFT collection, created in collaboration with tech firm Modex. The bunch of digital collectibles within the series will enable football lovers to get the most from the FIFA Club World Cup 2023, running from December 12th to December 22nd in Saudi Arabia. Notably, the ongoing tournament is the last of its kind, featuring seven teams. From 2025, it will feature 32 teams from several regions globally.
On December 15th, FIFA debuted 100 digital collectibles offering holders a chance to secure coveted tickets for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026. Another 900 collectibles, issued on Polygon, will be sold via the OpenSea NFT marketplace to fans a few days before the tournament ends. The drop will feature memorable moments from the tournament, digital versions of memorabilia, and exclusive experiences. The main idea behind this drop is to give fans an innovative way to interact with their favorite players, teams, and a beloved game.
The OpenSea sale is structured into three tiers: two presales followed by a public sale. The initial tier will offer the digital collectibles at 50 MATIC, escalating to 100 MATIC in the second presale and 150 MATIC during the public sale.
The Modex and FIFA collab aims to showcase how Web3 technology can enhance engagement and broaden opportunities for football fans.
