Blobs is an exploration of architectural form.
A series of identical cross-shaped elements, each systematically locked in their position by their neighbors, establish a field in which free-forms can operate. This grid serves as a mechanism for our eyes to study the subtle curvature and overlaps of the free-forms. Space, or the space produced by objects operating across a field, is the basis for this exploration. Rooted in architectural diagram, Blobs is a study of overlapping form and the interstitial, Boolean, shapes produced. One can imagine an architectural plan, with cantilevers, terraces, and curved enclosures. While each form is unique, they share a similarity in their creation: straight lines filleted together. Blobs is an exploration.
