Black Lives Matter. And it has to be noted because shortly after the United States was founded black lives and slaves were compromised into a fraction, 3/5ths specifically. One could refer to them as a life asterisked. 13 stars represent the first 13 colonies, but an asterisk on the life of those whose sweat and forced work developed and built the American nation while being recognized as less than a whole person and human being.
This collection represents triumph through tragedy. A call for wholeness preempted by a host of atrocities that reflect the flawed historical perception of Black Americans as being less than human. Social justice prevails but only though the pain and sorrow of weeping families and distraught, scared communities.
Raise these flags to express wholeness and represent the truth of our misdoings while uplifting and recognizing those afflicted to a status of equality. BLACK LIVES MATTER.
