We’re Planning to do Custom Clothes with Unique Otter Designs for the Collectors — Founder's Interview

Chris: Hi there! Please introduce yourself.

Spike: Hey there! I’m Spike and my partner is Olivia, we’re a husband and a wife team. I’m an animator/VFX artist and I’ve worked on several Hollywood productions including Marvel films and TV shows like Game of Thrones.

Olivia: I’m a toy designer/illustrator and I’ve designed toys for Disney Princess toy lines. I am the illustrator behind Slaughter Otters while Spike has been handling the technical side.

Chris: What is the inspiration behind the Slaughter Otters NFT? Why did you pick otters for your collection?

Spike: We were coming up with goofy animal rhymes one day. Olivia said “otter” and I said “slaughter” and we both laughed so hard at the idea of a maniacal little river otter.

Olivia: Then I drew an adorable otter with a bloody butcher’s knife. The idea started to escalate, and we thought it would be funny to see the otter with a chain gun or a rocket launcher. The combination was cute and unexpectedly dark. Imagining all the possibilities made us think that this would make a great NFT collection.

Chris: How does the NFT work with the idea of conservation and protection?

Olivia: The theme was the perfect fit for us because we both love animals and nature, so we wanted to give to environmental charities as the project hits certain milestones. Otters look so cute and cuddly but they’re also fierce when they need to defend themselves or their family.

Spike:  And they’re smart too. They’re the only marine mammals that use tools, which is why it’s so sad that they’re near endangered because of black market fur and pet trades. The idea with the collection is the otters are fighting for survival and we’re giving them bigger and badder tools to fight back. We’re hoping that with the shocking dark humor of this collection, we can raise awareness about the cruelty that otters face from human intervention.

Chris: What are the different features of the Slaughter Otters NFT?

Olivia: There are 5 property types: Fur Color, Background Color, Body Accessory, Head Accessory, and of course, Weapon. This is where each of our personalities get tossed into a blender.

Spike: She likes cute and fluffy things and I like action and dark humor. So when you randomize it, you get fun results like an otter with a pink tutu wearing an eyepatch and handling a badass machine gun.

Chris: Moreover, you aim to drop these 10000 tokens NFTs through 5 airdrops. Do you have a presale or whitelist as well?

Spike: That’s correct we’re releasing 2000 at a time and we’re increasing the listing price by 0.01 ETH with each release. We did not do a whitelist or a presale.

Olivia: We’re doing a giveaway for each release so follow our Twitter to stay up to date!

Chris: Furthermore, what are the special traits of the Slaughter Otter NFTs? How does one pick out the rare tokens if they want to?

Spike: The trait rarities can be found in the tier lists on our website and you can search for the otters by traits on Opensea. There’s no premium pricing, so an ultra-rare otter is the same price as a common otter.

Olivia: You can pick out one based on rarity or simply pick out one that makes you giggle inside.

Chris: What is the price of one Slaughter Otter NFT? Where can one go to buy a Slaughter Otter?

Spike: Currently, you can purchase an Slaughter Otter for 0.01 ETH on Opensea. The collection is on the Ethereum blockchain so the gas fees will vary. We also have 8 otters from our exclusive Halloween collection listed at 0.2 ETH.

Chris: What are your future plans for the project?

Olivia: The final part of our road map includes a merch store. We’re planning to do custom hats, mugs, t shirts etc. with unique otter designs for the collectors. With my experience in toy design and development, I would love to make a vinyl toy line out of Slaughter Otters. That way the collector not only can get a one of kind digital assets, but a physical collector’s item as well.

Spike: I’ve been toying with some ideas as well, but they're not officially on the roadmap yet. I would love to direct an animated series with community voted storylines. It could be a fun experiment that would lead to some hilarious results. It would be like a mad-libs Happy Tree Friends or an animated Twitch Plays Pokémon. Your otters could be cast in the show and you would be able to provide personality traits, dialogue, or actions. You would essentially become a talent agent for your otters. The potential is exciting!
