OnlyFans Introduced the NFT PFPs Verification on Ethereum

While Twitter Blue's NFT verification was a long-awaited step, the recent announcement by the subscription-based social media platform OnlyFans appeared to be quite a surprise. Thus, the company has claimed the opportunity to verify Ethereum-stored non-fungible PFPs on its website, becoming one of the latest platforms to jump into the global NFT mania. The newly-added feature, letting users display verified NFTs as profile pictures, was introduced on Feb 10th.

Onlyfans is a popular platform for adult content with thousands of influencers, supermodels, and Instagram celebrities among its users. The NFT profile verification has only added a bunch of selected opportunities for the stellar content creators, giving them additional sources of monetization.

As for now, the technology used by Twitter and OnlyFans works only with Ethereum tokens. Current Ethereum assets, when verified, acquire a small Ethereum icon next to the picture. Thus, by clicking on the PFP, anyone willing can find out more details about NFTs from the OpenSea marketplace. For now, no one knows how long it will take the global social platforms to adopt Solana or Tezos NFTs verification.

Our mission is to empower creators to own their full potential,” newly installed OnlyFans CEO Ami Gan said. “This feature is the first step in exploring the role that NFTs can play on our platform.

Among the outstanding benefits of the non-fungible PFPs, one can name an opportunity for content creators to release collectible material specifically for their audiences. Moreover, NFT integration opens membership options, such as access to exclusive content, giveaways, and tons of other perks, making followers closer to their idols.

As OnlyFans is primarily a service for adult entertainment, we are just about to wait and see how the creators will leverage NFTs within at least a month after the technology adoption.
