As the name suggests, is a type of malware that will take the victim's data hostage by encrypting important data. If the data is encrypted by this malware, then the data will be scrambled in such a way that the user cannot see the original data. The encrypted data can't be repaired by the users themselves because they have to use a password to restore it.
