Sir Anthony Hopkins, the Oscar-winning icon of film, television, and theater, became interested in NFTs in June by turning to web3-savvy Snoop Dogg, Jimmy Fallon, and Reese Witherspoon for advice. Since that time, the drama genius has become an eminent NFT collector. Currently, Anthony Hopkins' web3 journey is going deeper, as he aims not only to collect but also to sell NFTs by launching an inaugural, artsy collection.
To enter the crowd of creators, the most renowned "Hannibal Lecter" of all times has partnered with web3 media company Orange Comet. The collaboration will result in a series of NFT drops showcasing his work as an artist.
“NFTs are a blank canvas to create art,” Anthony Hopkins said, adding, "At first, I was nervous, but you’ve got to get on with it.”
The series titled The Eternal Collection will be launched in three categories, featuring Hopkins as one of his Jungian archetypes, including the Hero, the Rebel, the Magician, the Sage, the Ruler, the Explorer, the Lover, the Creator, the Giver, and the Jester.
The first one in the series, Iconic Category, features one-of-one animated NFTs, encompassing all ten archetypes. The holders of this piece of art will be allowed the most beneficial utilities: an intimate meet-up with Sir Anthony Hopkins, physical framed prints of artworks, an autographed Dreamscapes Art Book with Hopkins' creative arts, and the audio clip, where the creator speaks about the archetypes.
The second category, a Legendary one, consists of ten 1/1 Signature Animation NFTs, featuring one of the ten archetypes. The utilities include a Discord private discussion with the creator, while other boons mimic those featured in the Iconic Category.
Finally, the Distinguished Category will celebrate the drop of 1,000 NFTs, based on ten archetypes. The perks for the holders are incredible. 39 NFT holders will be rewarded a Dreamscapes Art Book, 5 randomly-picked minters will enjoy a Discord private discussion with Sir Anthony Hopkins, while the rest of the benefits will replicate the Iconic Category and Legendary Category common utility.
Anthony Hopkins' NFT endeavor will unveil the actor as a painter, while only a selected few knew about this side of his personality. The launch of The Eternal Collection is scheduled for September 16th. A portion of the funds raised from this NFT sale will go to charity.
“When Margam Fine Art approached us with the artistic vision to bring Sir Anthony Hopkins’ artwork to the metaverse, we knew this was a unique opportunity for the world of NFTs. This relationship is a superb symbiosis of technology and art from one of the finest actors and artists of our day,” the Orange Comet CEO Dave Broome said.
