The much-followed social media platform Reddit is once again shaking the NFT realm. After the mega-successful releases of the Reddit Collectible Avatars and Reddit World Cup Collectibles last year, the social network is entering into a collaboration with NFL for the Super Bowl LVII non-fungible series.
As part of its large-scale marketing campaign, Reddit prefers to avoid the term NFTs, calling its avatars digital collectibles instead. Thus, the new collection is free to claim, as it was with the World Cup collectibles of November 2022. This time, foreseeing the annual tournament, the series of tokens come split over four types, as follows:
Each redditor is allowed to collect only one token per account, with over 844K Super Bowl LVII x Reddit Collectible Avatars minted on the Polygon blockchain by the time of writing these lines.
Currently, Reddit is one of the biggest contributors to web3 mainstreaming. Its nearly 50 million users have first dipped their toes in NFTs thanks to Reddit's major avatar campaign, resulting in millions of crypto wallets created.
