Galerie kreo and Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby are thrilled to announce their first NFT collection together: “Signal C4V”, which will be available for purchase on OpenSea in early May 2022.

In February 2022, Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby premiered their first solo exhibition with Galerie kreo in London, with a collection of lamps entitled “Signals”. The collection, now on view at the gallery’s Paris location, highlights the designers’ longstanding passion for colour and form, and comprises 8 different models — including floor lights, wall lights, and ceiling lights.

“Signal C4V” will be the ninth and last model of “Signals” — existing exclusively online, in the form of an NFT. As the first NFT for both Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby and Galerie kreo, "Signal C4V” participates in introducing a new phase to the NFT space and digital arena for design.

Created, exhibited, and sold exclusively online, the “Signal C4V” collection will comprise a total of 136 NFTs — a symbolic number echoing the “Signals” show itself, which marked the 136th exhibition at Galerie kreo since its opening in 1999.

These 136 NFTs will exist as 17 multi-tokens of 8 (ERC-1155) — a nod to Galerie kreo’s tradition of producing objects in limited editions of 8. In each of the 17 iterations, the NFT will display a different colour combination opposing object and surrounding space, foreground and background.

Though the “Signal C4V" lamp distinguishes itself from its physical counterparts in its ability to twirl and shine without wiring or cable, the NFT nonetheless maintains the spirit of the “Signals” collection.

Indeed, it displays all the attributes that the “Signals” series champions: a smart geometric play with rectangular bodies and conical shades, and a unique rapport to colour. Known for their continuous exploration of colour — a trait particularly celebrated throughout oeuvre — Barber and Osgerby this time experiment with the chromatic possibilities of a new palette: that which the the digital world has to offer.
