One of the oldest and purest paintings by Leonardo da Vinci will soon be available as a digital collectible. ‘Salvator Mundi’, created by a legendary Italian artist around 1500, joins the ‘Mona Lisa’ ‘Starry Night’, ‘Nymphéas’, and other classic paintings that have already been offered as NFTs.

Translated from Latin, the art piece’s title means ‘Savior of the World.’ This is perfectly depicted in the artwork, as Christ shows himself as the world’s savior dressed in an anachronistic blue Renaissance dress. In his left hand, he holds a crystal orb, while using his right hand to portray a gesture bestowing a benevolent blessing.

Salvator Mundi was initially thought to be lost for centuries. However, through extensive restoration and scholarly inquiry, the magnificent art piece emerged to prominence. In 2017, the painting was sold for a whopping $450.3 million in an auction organized by Christie’s. The sale broke the record of being the most expensive painting ever sold at a public auction.

Fast forward to the present, the iconic painting is on its way to getting permanently engraved in the non-fungible realm. ElmonX and Bridgeman Images joined forces to unveil two digital collectibles of the Leonardo da Vinci Salvator Mundi painting – ElmonX Salvator Mundi Original and ElmonX Salvator Mundi Artist Proof.

ElmonX Salvator Mundi Original will feature 660 editions, with 55 pieces reserved. Each digital piece, licensed by Bridgeman Images, will be sold for £150. Payments can also be made in ETH denomination via MetaMask.

ElmonX Salvator Mundi Artist Proof will feature a limited 13-piece edition with three pieces reserved. Each artwork will sell for £1,100 or in ETH. There’s a treat – a physical version of the Artist Proof piece will also be available for holders. The physical print will be the same size and quality as the artwork’s museum pictorial depth print. Each piece is numbered at the back. Shipping will take place four weeks after the purchase date.
