The virtuoso pianist, one of the most successful UK singers and composers, Elton John, has just burst into the NFT realm like a "Rocket Man."
To make his foray into web3, the rock star has partnered with low-code web experience platform Jadu, the NFT marketplace Sweet, and renowned digital artist Voxel Bunny.
“Whilst I’m no metaverse expert (!) I wanted to make sure that my first NFT was something true to me, and collaborating with LGBTQ+ artist Voxel Bunny and Jadu on something so unique that benefits the Elton John AIDS Foundation for Pride month was the perfect opportunity,” Eton John commented on the partnership.
The collaboration resulted in the creation of one-of-a-kind, metaverse-ready virtual hoverboard NFT. The item, featuring cues from Elton John's hits Rocket Man and Pinball Wizard, as well as his star-shaped glasses, was auctioned off via Sweet with the ending bid of $80,000 The winning bidder was allowed a gaming utility for the talented folk at Jadu.
But that's not all. Currently, everyone willing can purchase one of the access tokens that will unlock a series of experiences in the newly-created Rocket NFT Club. This is an exclusive web3 community led by Elton, which provides easy-pass access to Elton’s Yellow Brick Roadmap. The NFT holders will get early-bird access to the latest news, one-off competitions, and discounts, as well as ticket pre-sales. The Rocket NFTs are on sale until July 5th, at only $29.99.
All the proceeds from the auction and NFT sales will fund the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which aids vulnerable layers to combat HIV and promises to beat AIDS by 2030.
The 75-year-old singer is currently preparing for the final North American dates of his massive Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, finishing with a three-night event at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on November 17th-20th.
