Politics and art are intersecting in an NFT mosaic that depicts an image of the U.S. capitol made up of tiny images from the Jan. 6, 2021 riot.
The mosaic, titled Insurrection #4, was created by Sandler, a digital artist with a background in graphic design and digital publishing.
Sandler’s provocative work marks the first anniversary of the Capitol Hill riot in Washington D.C. Thousands of protestors stormed Capitol Hill on Jan. 6, 2021, after former President Trump fired-up the crowd during a rally in which he questioned the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. Five people died during the Capitol Hill riot, including two police officers.
“I think the Capitol Hill riot was part of a frightening narrative in which facts are ignored or turned into fiction,” said Sandler. “The mosaic I created speaks for itself. In my opinion, this was an insurrection, and anyone who truly supports democracy should be concerned.”
