Why Now: (1) Per Aspera thinks old school stock certificates look sweet, and (2) we want to emphasize fungibility of NFTs. The Art: Homage to Magritte’s Treachery of Images is intended to challenge the viewer as to what NFTs really are. Like a stock, there is scarcity, it may hold and appreciate in value, the non-fungible nature is moot despite serialization, and the image resembles a stock certificate. Yet in reality, it is very different – there is no inherent cash flow, no legally binding obligations or fiduciary duties, no share of ownership of a corporation, and all the buyer really 'owns' is a record on the blockchain of purchasing the serial-ed image. The Creators: Sister (artist) & brother (finance bro) hail from the great state of Kansas (hence the name)
