Timed to the victorious rematch against Anthony Joshua, the current WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO Heavyweight World Champion Oleksandr Usyk has launched a fund-raising NFT collection aimed to get $2M for humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
Ukrainian by origin, the world boxing champ has joined efforts with NFT platform Blockasset and the eminent digital artist Dosbrak to release the limited-edition 2K-piece Oleksandr Usyk NFT collection in support of the Usyk Foundation. The unique artworks depict some of the most victorious moments in the champion's boxing career, processed by the professional hand of Dosbrak.
“I appreciate the opportunity to link up with Blockasset, who I regard as the heavyweight champions of sports NFTs. I’m a big fan of Dosbrak’s art, and it has been a pleasure to collaborate on this initiative, which I am sure will raise a considerable amount for our foundation,” Oleksandr Usyk commented on the collaboration.
The initiative aims to provide humanitarian essentials for Ukrainian civilians as well as cover the needs of the Armed Forces in ammo and transport.
On the night of August 20th - 21st, Usyk defeated his opponent in a spectacular rematch. Previously, before being allowed to leave the country, the boxer had been part of the Kyiv territorial defense. Having seen the horrible war crimes of russians firsthand, Oleksandr decided to join the fight on the light side. He stood for Ukraine in a boxing ring to raise funds for his compatriots and once again remind the world community of the horrors of the war raging in his homeland.
The Oleksandr Usyk NFT drop will be running until August 23rd at $200 apiece. At the time of writing, only about half of the initial NFT supply was available for purchase. By the way, even non-crypto users can purchase the tokens using Credit/Debit Card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay to receive their NFTs within 24 hours.
