Pussy Riot co-founder Nadya Tolokonnikova has long used blockchain technology to promote inclusivity and equal rights for women in the men's world. In 2022 alone, the activist raised over $12 million in the support of reproductive justice, victims of domestic violence, LGBTQ and female artists, as well as for humanitarian causes.
Currently, against the rollback of reproductive rights in many states of the US, Tolokonnikova is releasing a brand-new NFT collection dubbed Matriarchy Now in partnership with Rolling Stone magazine, and an acclaimed photographer Ellen von Unwerth. Working together for the first time, they are releasing an exclusive series of 11 NFT portraits of Nadya Tolokonnikova where art and sexuality are masterfully intertwined.
Additionally, this collaboration calls to the viewer, asking them to imagine a world where everybody's equal. The series of 11 portraits entitled Matriarchy Now, Adoration, Ascent of the Blessed, Paradise Martyrdom, The Garden of Earthly Delights, The Last Judgement, The Temptation of the St. Anthony, Hermit Saint, and Heaven will be launched on January 11th via the Coinbase NFT marketplace. Additionally, the centerpiece of the collection is the “cover image,” emblazoned with the Rolling Stone logo. It will be put up for auction with 100% of funds to benefit Tolokonnikova and John Caldwell’s reproductive rights charity portal, LegalAbortion.Eth.
In addition to the Coinbase drop, on January 11th, Rolling Stone magazine will hold an exclusive exhibition at The Canvas 3.0 to mark the official release of Matriarchy Now,
