Fragmented across the galaxy among harsh planets are remnants of the Mad Machines Galactic Alliance – sworn on a centuries-old mission to protect what's left of the Milky Way from extragalactic threats.
The toll of living on unforgiving worlds has made mechanical implants a necessity for survival, rendering most more machine than living. They're Mad.. and they're Machines! Androids - a class of machines with their past human consciousness cybernetically-implanted into steel bodies, after humans on Earth were wiped out by an epidemic more than a thousand years ago.
Aliens - humanoid pale-blue beings from the Proxima Centauri system, which was destroyed by invaders from neighboring galaxies in 3068.
Apes - curiously, the same virus that infected humans did not kill the apes on Earth, instead of giving them heightened intelligence and sentience.
Zombies - No one knows where they came from, but they communicate telepathically with the androids, aliens, and apes.
