In the midst of this crowded scene, what I wanted to capture is the state of a collective delirium in a jungle-like environnement. The scene depicts the society surrounded by a vivid landscape where the characters are consumed by their mundane occupations and the monkeys are watching us all puzzled and confused. It is a revolt against the indifference of the majority who find comfort in seeing no evil, hearing no evil, speaking no evil. By ignoring the signs long enough, we became ignorant.
This artwork started during the most strict confinement measures of the pandemic, a period of profound isolation and introspection. Unfortunately, the more things change, the more they stay the same. And the more we regress. Is this the best we can do with what all we have at our disposal? Are we the subject or the object here? I am confused and a little retarded. I need a banana.
