'Hey Iran!' is the first artwork in the Double Portraits series by Bulgarian artist Petko Dourmana. Originally painted in 2019, the series reflects the collision between stylized masks of political spectacle and real faces of leaders who hold disproportionate power over our lives. 'Hey Iran!'condenses this tension. It marks a turning point in the political climate of the decade and captures the velocity with which President Donald Trump reshaped global politics, economics and everyday life. No contemporary political figure has altered the global landscape so dramatically in such a short time, the double structure of the master painting expresses this transformation.
The original painting will be gifted to the President of the United States, Donald Trump after issuance of 10,000 symbolic certificates of global participation, one for each square centimetre of the painting.
