Approximately 25% of dachshunds will suffer from damage to the discs in their spines, most commonly Intervertebral Disc Disease, or IVDD. After suffering from spinal injury and two slipped discs of my own while caring for my mother, I felt connected to these doggos.
I discovered Dachshunds of North America, an organization that works to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home, these furry friends, many of whom are given up by their owners after sustaining spinal injury.
