TR Robinson created Animal Cards after graduating from Ohio University in 1985, as a way to promote his art. During his first job as a paste up artist at a business card print shop he utilized the extra card stock to put his art on. He then proceeded to hand them out everywhere. Animal Cards quickly became collectibles and were traded, bought from other collectors and eventually disappeared from circulation. There were over 62,000 made and handed out to friends, strangers and even celebrities. The Original Set of Animal Cards was produced from November 1985 until the fall of 1986. The Green Duck was the very first Animal Card made for Thanksgiving in 1985. It is the most sought after of all cards. In 1992, Set Two was printed with ten new animal drawings. Now there was an additional 15,000 cards to hand out. In 2010, The Silver Anniversary Edition was printed in honor of Twenty-Five years of collecting Animal Cards.
